Black Birthday by Aiyana
Black Birthday  by Aiyana, Black Power Movement member
Birthday quotation for Sister Hlengiwe, from Audrey Lorde, lesbian founder of the Black Power Movement

The poem was a gift for a young woman who has not herself been attacked, but we hope she is not, whilst many women in South Africa have, but she is a member of the Forum for Empowerment of Women who are seeking to stop the violence. The situation concerning rape in South Africa is now so bad and the post-Apartheid washing their hands of it, yet I believe the women, particularly the lesbians have great strength and I believe they can succeed in defeating this scourge which I am certain will help us all.  I and my family were victims of corrective rape ourselves

THIS IS MY SISTER WHO IS LOVE, SO LETS LOVE HER

Love is a lesbian, these women bring life in as many way as you can see stars in the night sky, and they all know there is one Moon and from her all we need can be shaped and all we need now is a forum for the empowerment of women, compassion and hope are two women lovers from whom life can be born anew, yet men ban even these words which are our children, but yes indeed we will overcome the rapist Zuma and bring life to the desert of humanity for now and for ever, black is our soul as well as our skin, and skin and soul are inseparable like sisters in love and so too we can reunite our human family and bring peace which will never die, yes, black lovers we will win!
