Cara was written in 2004 as part of http://www.nanowrimo.org/. 

I had no experience at writing, had never written a book, but always had the dream to do so.  Nanowrimo is an online competition to write a novel in 30 days.  I started the book, and 30 days later I had a 50,000 word novel, the first chapter of which is available on the download.
